چکیده

To date, there are very few data regarding new efficient probiotics’ development with their own prebiotic substrate. All commercial products contain substrate that was previously purified from external sources and added to the final product. The present study describes Weissella confusa strain fermentations in media different anthocyanin concentrations Hibiscus sabdariffa L., order increase exopolysaccharide (EPS) yield, leading augmented probiotic properties. extracted EPS were characterized by Gel permeation chromatography, Fourier-transform infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; thermal analysis measurements whole fermented media’s properties evaluated testing low pH bile salt resistance, along hydrophobicity auto-aggregation capacity. anthocyanins increased biomass yields high molecular mass improved nutrient access allowing a good microbial suspension media. confirmed dextran structure provides biocompatibility compared existing literature. Simultaneously, protected cells against control fermentation. These results show culture is suitable for further in-vitro in-vivo studies its activity.

Hibiscus sabdariffa L. - a phytochemical and pharmacological review.

Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (Hs, roselle; Malvaceae) has been used traditionally as a food, in herbal drinks, in hot and cold beverages, as a flavouring agent in the food industry and as a herbal medicine. In vitro and in vivo studies as well as some clinical trials provide some evidence mostly for phytochemically poorly characterised Hs extracts. Extracts showed antibacterial, anti-oxidant, nephro-...

Hibiscus sabdariffa L., roselle calyx, from ethnobotany to pharmacology.

Using MEDLINE and SCOPUS databases, a review of the literature from the pioneering study of 1991 until 2010 was performed on the effects on biological models of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. roselle calyx, its extracts mainly in polar solvents, or pure components found in extracts, as well as their possible relationship to these effects. Three relevant effects on lipid metabolism, antihypertensive act...

Hibiscus sabdariffa L: Safety and Efficacy during Pregnancy and Lactation

Background: The flowers, calyx and seeds of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (Malvaceae) are used in traditional medicine for management of edema, cancer, constipation, hypertension, fever, liver and nerve diseases. In Nigeria, a decoction of the seeds is used in folk medicine to enhance or induce lactation in cases of poor milk production. But its potential for toxicity when administered during pregnanc...

Physicochemical Properties and Oxidative Storage Stability of Milled Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) Seeds.

Milled Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) seeds of the UMKL cultivar were analyzed for proximate composition, water and oil absorption capacity, and the influence of storage conditions on storage stability. The storage stability was determined under four types of conditions: light/oxygen (air) (LO), light/nitrogen (LN), darkness/oxygen (air) (DO), and darkness/nitrogen (DN) while monitoring for s...

Weissella confusa Infection in Primate (Cercopithecus mona)

We describe the first systemic infection by Weissella confusa in a mona monkey (Cercopithecus mona) on the basis of microbiologic, molecular genetic, and histologic data. The same strain of W. confusa, as determined by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, was isolated in pure culture from the brain, liver, spleen, and intestine of this primate, illustrating the clinical importance of the isolations.
